It’s Local News Day — a national day of action to uplift the local journalism that keeps our communities connected, informed and strong.
You already know how much local news matters. Our local communities are where we are most empowered and connected. That’s why you subscribe to Daylight to stay informed. Today, we’re asking you to help spread the word.
Forward this email to a friend, neighbor or family member who would benefit from local news — or who wants to support it, and send them to our newsletter signup page here.
When someone signs up, they’re not just joining our email list. They’re joining a movement to sustain local news for generations to come. They're also joining the Daylight community, which connects both online and in person to discuss San Diego issues, learn how to get involved and celebrate the diverse cultures that make our region the place we want to live.
From Daylight’s extensive coverage of how the federal government is impacting immigrants locally to its features on third spaces and community events, we’re focused on not just keeping you informed, but helping you find community with others who want to feel empowered in making San Diego a better place.
Here is some of our favorite reporting from the past year.

Where to find no-cost groceries
New changes to CalFresh and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits that restrict access to food assistance based on immigration status mean navigating where to find no-cost groceries is more important than ever. We’ve built a map to help San Diegans navigate local food distribution options. If you know of one that we missed, please let us know so we can add it to our map.
